Happy Hour for Santa Barbara dogs and their people
October 18, 2007
Santa Barbarians started the weekend off early last night with Yappy Hour at Red’s Café on Helena Avenue in the Funk Zone. And funky it was with dogs (and some people) dressed up for an early Halloween – all hoping to win the Best Dressed Costume. The two winners selected by representatives from Petcentric, Kalyra Winery, Dioji and Total Diva Pets were Sam, a Mini Pincher wearing a dinosoar costume and Tonka, a Jack Russell dressed as a cat. Another great costume was a woman as Little Red Riding Hood and her dog dressed as the wolf disguised as grandma!
The dogs were on their best behavior and one or two were even seen dancing with their owners to the sound of live music. A few pups were spotted running around with wigs on loan from Total Diva Pets and Petcentric was on hand to take care of the dogs while their parents were inside the café.
The party besides being a good time for dogs and owners alike was a benefit for the Molly Inspires Foundation, a non-profit which was established with two main objectives in mind: to help dogs with special needs and to provide the tools for special dogs to help people. The inspiration behind the Molly Inspires Foundation Molly herself was in attendance. Molly is a 6-year-old pug who is a paraplegic with no control over the lower half of her body. She wears diapers and has a wheelchair (a cart for her back legs). Molly’s disability does not slow her down a bit and tonight was no exception! She was seen walking around on her own or being cuddled and held by numerous admirers.

Top Dog and Chief Pet Lover meets the "Dog Whisperer"
Wendy Fisher recently attended the incredibly informative dog behavior seminar given by National Geographic Television star "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan. In attendance was his star pup, Daddy who helped demonstrate some of Cesar's techinique's which will add to Wendy's own repertoire. Cesar Millan has been called a Dr. Phil for dogs, and for good reason. Cesars amazing rehabilitations of aggressive, scared, lazy, compulsive, and jealous dogs captured the national spotlight when his National Geographic Channel (NGC) series Dog Whisperer premiered last year. On Friday, January 6, 2006 at 8 p.m. ET/PT Dog Whisperer returns for a primetime second season with expanded hour-long episodes. Tune in to be entertained and informed!

Maya Fisher is promoted to Top Puppy
Just as we hoped Maya is a huge animal lover and especially is fond of
dogs as she sees them so often. Grady (our big boy!) was the first dog
she met and has since met many more, and loves them all!
